Op-ed: Worker-led programs are tackling gender-based violence in supply chains, but they’re at risk

Re:Structure Lab Co-Principal Investigator Genevieve LeBaron and McMaster University Labour Studies Professor Judy Fudge have published an op-ed in The Conversation titled “Worker-led programs are tackling gender-based violence in supply chains, but they’re at risk.” The op-ed emphasizes the effectiveness of worker-led detection and remediation systems to address gender-based violence and harassment. 

LeBaron and Fudge discuss the prevalence of gender-based violence and harassment in workplaces around the world and highlight worker-led agreements in India and Indonesia which have produced effective models of accountability. LeBaron and Fudge also shed light on the potential impacts of American funding cuts, DEI rollbacks, and global trade upheaval on the progress of these worker-led initiatives.
