Op-ed: The L.A. wildfires are a warning to Canada
Canada must guard against its own displacement crises, be they caused by fires or floods, that leave victims and response teams vulnerable.
Re:Structure Lab Co-Investigator Ali Bhagat and Lab collaborator Marc Calabretta have published an op-ed in Policy Options titled “The L.A. wildfires are a warning to Canada.” The op-ed highlights lessons from the wildfires in Los Angeles for Candian governments in climate disaster and emergency preparedness.
Bhagat and Calabretta shed light on practical policy approaches to protect vulnerable and racialized communities and provide support for restoring and expanding funding in emergency services and creating a long-term climate plan.
